i-CAT Imaging

In-office Three-Dimensional Imaging*
We’re letting the cat out of the bag!
X-rays were discovered in 1895 by W. C. Roentgen. He was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine and the very first Nobel Prize for Physics in 1901 for his discovery. He called them X rays because their nature was at first unknown. Over 100 years ago, x-rays only had two dimensions—height and width. Today, standard dental x-rays are still two-dimensional.
All two-dimensional images are mildly distorted and vary greatly in magnification, meaning that they do not show patient anatomy as accurately as possible. Consequently, diagnosis and treatment are less predictable and may involve more risk. Enter the i-CAT.
In-office Three-Dimensional Imaging Technology
The quantum leap in dentistry is the introduction of in-office three-dimensional imaging technology. One of the groundbreaking products is produced by Imaging Sciences International and is called the i-CAT. Three-dimensional imaging was only available in hospitals and imaging centers as CAT scans, which are more costly and emit higher levels of radiation.

Offering 3-D imaging to our patients is aligned with our treatment philosophy. We care for each patient as if he or she were a family member; we make treatment recommendations while taking the patients’ perspective. We are proud to say that “quantum leap” is not an empty expression, that 3-D imaging realizes treatment outcomes otherwise unlikely with traditional two-dimensional imaging. Come see for yourself at your consultation appointment what three-dimensional imaging can do for you.
